About DFJ

Philosophy

The primary mission of DFJ is to prepare dancers technically and spiritually to worship Jesus Christ in dance ministry.  Ms. Jenni believes the right way to teach dance is safely and lovingly, in an environment where growth is encouraged and the student’s goals are taken into consideration. For that reason the   studio is structured in such a way that a student may choose to learn dance as primarily a fun method of exercise and expression, or as a more serious pursuit with additional focus on technique and the option to pursue pointe classes.  Classes rely heavily on classical and Christian music as the backdrop for learning.

 Class Descriptions

Ballet technique classes will focus on training dancers as they are taught ballet exercises at the barre and center floor.  This training enhances the development of proper ballet technique and enables dancers to progress toward more complex dance combinations and choreography.

Worship classes will focus on incorporating the technical beauty of ballet and jazz technique with the emphasis on learning to worship through choreography and group   movement.  Time together in the Word will equip us to learn to focus on sharing a message as we worship so we may use dance as a ministry to others in our performance opportunities.

Class Expectations

Students enrolled are expected to come to class promptly, ready to dance, and willing to give respectful attention to their teacher.

All female students in Level 1-5 classes will be required to wear plain black leotards and pink tights to class, with hair pulled away from their face in a bun.  Male students are  required to wear black pants or shorts and a white shirt.

An annual enrollment fee of $20 per student, a recital fee of $30 per family, as well as the costume fee is required to ensure placement in a class.   Costume fees: Level 1-$50, Level 2-$75, Level 3/Rec-$100, Level 4-$120, and  Level  5-$150
Tuition payments may be made monthly on the first class of each month or in full at any time during the season.

Jenni West
Owner, Artistic Director, Head Teacher, Choreographer
Ms. Jenni has passionately studied a variety of dance techniques including ballet, lyrical, pointe, character and jazz since the early age of 5. Her dream to teach became a reality 22 years ago.  Jenni felt God’s call on her life to begin her own studio 10 years ago, where dance would be taught not only with technical emphasis, but also with a focus on the heart.  Her passion is to teach her students not only the joy of dance, but the privilege of dancing for Jesus with a heart of worship.  As her studio has grown, so has her vision, and she’s excited to offer additional performance opportunities  through out the season for those wishing to minister to others at community events. Jenni hopes to encourage others to share dance and their love for Jesus through their experiences at Dancing for Jesus.

Our Vision for "Dancing for Jesus"

We believe that every child can express themselves through the arts.

Teaching children dance in a loving and wholesome environment along with the teachings of Jesus gives them confidence.

Confidence, built upon an understanding of the Bible and it's promises and their new-found abilities to move in a rhythmic and choreographed way becomes the foundation, the reason, and the purpose for dance for these children
