F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are technique classes required?
Technique classes not only allow a student to learn correct movement safely, but focusing on basics during technique classes allow more time to learn choreography and worship elements during worship dance.

Why do we need to purchase black leotards?

The leotards we suggest allow careful observation of students; alternative shirts, shorts, or skirts other than a ballet skirt may prevent instructors from seeing correct body position or movement.  The uniformity of having the entire class in the same leotard also builds unity and encourages a team  dynamic important in group dance.

Where will I find leotards, tights and shoes?

Students will be measured for costumes and shoes on our scheduled shoe day in August.  Anyone needing shoes, tights, or   leotards can order them at that time.  You may select black leotards, a ballet skirt, and pink tights of your own choosing if you prefer.  Pink Ballet shoes (any brand) and caramel jazz shoes Capezio EJ2 are required.

Will the students have a recital?

We will host worship events twice per year; one in the winter and one in the spring.  Specific dates will be     provided in enrollment packets.  An additional recital fee of $30 per family will be payable on shoe day along with shoe day expenses.  This fee will include 1 DVD of each performance per family and will help to pay for facility and tech expenses so we are able to enjoy free performances for all who wish to attend our recitals.   Additional opportunities for outreach performances will be available periodically through the year on a volunteer basis.

Are auditions required for placement?

Placement in classes is determined by availability and instructor approval.  Pointe classes will require observation and recommendation by instructor to insure the student’s ability and safety.

What happens if we need to miss a class?

While we support family time together and also realize that school activities or illness/injury will occasionally cause conflicts, it is our desire you inform us about these situations ahead of time and limit absences to the greatest degree possible.  If a student is chronically tardy or misses more than four classes in a semester, we reserve the right to revoke their participation in the recital.  Continued disregard of the class schedule may result in dismissal from the program.  Please ask about make up class options for your individual needs.

Our Vision for "Dancing for Jesus"

We believe that every child can express themselves through the arts.

Teaching children dance in a loving and wholesome environment along with the teachings of Jesus gives them confidence.

Confidence, built upon an understanding of the Bible and it's promises and their new-found abilities to move in a rhythmic and choreographed way becomes the foundation, the reason, and the purpose for dance for these children
